The Buddha said that it is our mind which makes the world. When I was young boy at the temple I had the arrogance to disagree with the Buddha and think he was wrong! But now I realize that he is exactly right. We can be in the most beautiful place in the world but if our minds are angry or depressed then we can't appreciate it. Our life is created by our thoughts. Thoughts can be trained just like muscles. Thoughts are energy so be aware of whether your thoughts are bringing you positive Qi or negative Qi. Tune into the positive and let go of the negative.

The person wrote me this one-line mail:
"budda is dead, you moron, move on with your life"
And I replied:
"You are alive, friend, move on with Buddha's death."

I was vegetarian for about 5 years. I was invited to my mother's house for thanksgiving dinner, and my mother was very upset that I would not eat the turkey which she had spent hours preparing for her family.
In the end, I felt more compassion for my mother than for the turkey, and I ate the turkey.

Flapping flagFour monks were meditating in a monastery. All of a sudden the prayer flag on the roof started flapping.
The younger monk came out of his meditation and said: "Flag is flapping"
A more experienced monk said: "Wind is flapping"
A third monk who had been there for more than 20 years said: "Mind is flapping."
The fourth monk who was the eldest said, visibly annoyed: "Mouths are flapping!"

Budistii nu cred in nici un Dumnezeu. Budismul este un sistem de gandire, o religie, o stiinta spirituala si un mod de viata care e rational si practic. Pentru mai bine de 2 000 de ani el a satisfacut nevoile a aproape o treime din populatia Globului.

Nu are dogme, satisface simtul rational si pe cel al inimii, insista ca fiecare individ sa-si asume responsabilitatea, sustine toleranta pentru ceilalti si pentru punctele lor de vedere, imbratiseaza stiinta, psihologia, etica si arta si subliniaza faptul ca oamenii sunt creatorii vietii lor prezente si a destinului lor

Nu te aseza in fata unui om care isi cauta Dumnezeul

Fiecare persoana sufera consecintele propriilor actiuni si invata din ele. Ajuta-i pe altii sa faca acelasi lucru. Nici o rugaciune adresata lui Buddha sau oricarei alte zeitati nu va impiedica un efect sa-si urmeze cauza.
Preotii budisti nu sunt intermediari intre realitate si individ.
Toate celelalte religii si filozofii sunt acceptate fara discernamant pentru ca nimeni nu are dreptul sa se aseze in calea unei persoane care isi cauta Dumnezeul.

...Sa fii atent la ce gindesti...

Toate universurile care exista sunt expresia vietii. Toate efectele au si cauze iar caracterul unei persoane este rezultatul actiunilor sale. Fiecare fiinta umana isi creaza situatii de viata, fie ca intelege acest lucru sau nu.
Prin ganduri bune si actiuni corecte se poate purifica sinele interior. Intelegerea naturii interioare va duce in timp la eliberare.
Fiintele omenesti care petrec multe vieti pe Pamant pot atinge in cele din urma iluminarea.

What is zazen?

It is sitting meditation in the traditional lotus posture, which has been practiced by human beings since prehistory. Zazen is neither a theory, nor an idea, nor some kind of knowledge to be grasped by the brain. It is only a practice which completely modifies our own mind. It is to be linked to the whole universe. In 1967 Master Taisen Deshimaru, disciple and successor of the great master Kodo Sawaki, brought to Europe the practice of zazen, thus planting the original seed in a new ground.

Zazen and Buddhism
Buddhism itself is a fruit of zazen.Legend says that before Shakyamuni Buddha there were seven Buddhas; buddhism refers thus back to a time period before its own existence.Indeed, the zazen posture goes back to the dawn of time and numerous archeological vestiges are there to testify to it (see zen and prehistory), it is a basic treasure of humankind. Historical buddhism was born from the zazen of Buddha 2500 years ago and has been transmitted from masters to disciples from this time throughout the world without interruption.

Se credea ca este noul mintuitor, noul Buddha. Se crede si acum de unii sau altii.

Apoi, a disparut. Acum, am preluat de pe The Buddhist Blog ceva informatii despre micul Buddha care s-a intors pentru putin timp

So the Buddha boy has re-emerged from the forest to greet his followers before returning back to the forest for more meditation. I have been skeptical from the beginning that he is the reincarnation of Buddha because from what I know Siddhartha Gautama had broken free of the cycle of birth and death by being transformed by mahaparinirvana:
"Being Buddha means the last birth and the highest level that can be achieved. There can be no reincarnation of Buddha, even though Buddhists believe in life after death," said Rakesh, a Buddhist scholar in Katmandu who goes by only one name.

I guess some see him as Maitreya (the "next Buddha") who will restore the "pure Dharma" to Earth but there are two requirements before Maitreya could arrive on Earth. First: 1). The Dharma will no longer be taught, which is clearly not evident now as Buddhism is growing faster than maybe since its arrival into greater Asia with converts in the west such as in America, Europe and Australia. And with the invention of the internet the teachings of ordained Dharma teachers are more widely available than perhaps at any time in the history of Buddhism.The other requirement that needs to occur before Maitreya will arrive is that Buddhism must be completely forgotten, which is clearly not the case right now on Earth.

Thus, I think it can be safe to assume that "Buddha boy" is not Maitreya.There is something about this Buddha boy, his "handlers" and "followers" seems very suspicious to me. I'm also curious about the monks seen in the above picture. They seem to wear the robes of Tibetan Buddhist monks and so I'd be curious to hear what their teachers and senior monks think of Buddha boy

The Paratrooper

A paratrooper was scared to jump. His instructor told him, "If anything goes wrong, say, `Buddha oh Buddha' and you will be saved."
The paratrooper got so scared that he forgot to pull his rip cord. So he said, "Buddha oh Buddha," and a hand came out and saved him.
He said, "Thank God," and he was dropped.

Driving in India

A monk was driving in India when suddenly a dog crosses the road. The car hit and killed the dog. The monk looked around and seeing a temple, went to knock on the door. A monk opened the door. The first monk said: "I'm terribly sorry, but my karma ran over your dogma."
